My second magical play of the year..

I put this writeup together for someone else.. But i figured I'd post it here as well:

Bob Sowards -120 over Brandel Chamblee (72 Holes) Book: 5 dimes

You are probably wondering why I would wager my money on a guy named Bob Sowards. That’s a good question. This is Sowards first time playing at Pebble Beach but that shouldn’t be a deterrent. He played his first event of the year at the Sony and made the cut shooting a respectable 69 – 71 (MDF). This shows me that his game is in decent shape after earning his card a few weeks before in Q School. The Sony event is very similar to the courses in California, with the high winds and Oceanside golf. But lets be real, this is more of a fade on Chamblee. Brandel hasn’t played at Pebble since 2003, that year he shot 77 – 72 73, before that it was 1999 when he followed up an opening round of 69 with a 75 and 80 to miss the cut badly. Brandel has played 1 pga event the past 4 years and that was last years Frys Electonic Open where he missed the cut. Chamblee isn’t getting any younger, he currently is in no mans land, where he still has a few years for the Seniors Tour and he’s not competitive enough to make a living on the PGA tour. Bob Sowards I’m sure went home after the Sony to practice and is intent on trying to earn living by keeping his card, and then there’s Brandel, who is taking a week off from TV to play a fun weekend of golf. My guess is Chamblee doesn’t break 75 this week.
