Here is my reasoning. When i saw Vijay WD from the Sony I knew something was up. Why travel to Hawaii and WD? Well Singh has been going through a rough I repeat rough divorce, and he really has enjoyed spending time with his kid.. they played in the father son earlier.
Singh, 45, the No. 5 player in the world, said he expected to be out for at least three weeks, but he wanted to make sure that he would be ready to play at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, where he will be paired with his son, Qass. Singh, who won the 2005 Sony Open, said he was looking forward to spending time with Qass helping him get his game sharp.
"He's been struggling and he really wants to play well at Pebble Beach, so we'll be working on that," Singh said.
What a great opportunity to play with your son .. I think this is one of the tougher courses on tour to walk, especially with a bum wheel.More than anything, it's just wear and tear on the meniscus, and it just kind of gave out," Singh said Tuesday at Kapalua Resort's Plantation Course, where he is preparing for the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the season-opening event on the PGA Tour. "It's something I needed to get done, and I didn't want to put it off."
Vijay is a warrior, but if he starts off slowly I think he might WD, or just throw in the towel and come in shooting 78 - 80. If he gets going early, then it could be trouble if he gains confidence. Let's hope not!
I am a Els homer.. he is my favorite player. I think he is due for a breakout season, hes shown flashes last year, but I know he is grateful to be back in Hawaii, where he a history of doing well. He said he went to Callaway and worked on his putting, so if he gets going he could win again here. It came down to Camillo or Anthony, and I decided on Villegas. Anthony has been known to be a drinker and a partier and I think being out on 'vacation' might lead to some distractions. It's Camillos birthday today, and he said even though he has friends in town, he is gonna keep it low key and take care of business.
Q. Right now, today, how do you feel going into this tournament tomorrow?
CAMILO VILLEGAS: I feel good. I feel confident. I'm excited, and even though it was not a very long break, I got a lot of my friends here this week, which is awesome, and hopefully I can put a nice little show for them.
I like his length off the tee, his agressiveness is scary, since there are bear traps all over this course, but he has improved with his putting. BOL to everyone this week.
Let's hope this doesn't turn out to be a Padraig at Birkdale 'injury'.
