Just came across this site, Don't you think all those factors with Piercy and Simpson are already built into the line?

Nope. I think the books use a formula that calculates recent form and course form. They don't to into account extraneous factors such as colleges. Obviously Piercy's good play of late has made him the favorite.. but no way the odds makers have enough time to find out where the players went to college or grew up.

Wait, Vegas, who's job it is to set lines, doesn't have enough time to properly set lines?

I will agree with you that Piercy's hot FBR play may make him slightly overrated but Webb Simpson has been just as hot.

What i am saying is no vegas or the european books dont look at home towns.. they set lines by recent form and course form. It's a pretty simple formula, you can ask guys who set their own lines and compare them to the books line for discrepancies.
Being a home game is an external factor, that would lead one to chose Piercy over Webb.
When you saw this line it was obviously a pick em. Their finishes were nearly identical for the year. Neither had course form, so the books just used that stat as well as finishes this year to pair the 2.
Then when i saw the line i envisioned the hometown guy and his style of play to have the edge.
