Disappointing week obviously.
The 77 by Williamson hurt, hard to cap Joe playing so well when he has done awful here, and coming off an injury. The Perry fade was spot on, he played brutal on the weekend, just so happens that Watney had 11 birdies and still missed the cut by 1. So is life sometimes..

"The Perry fade was spot on"
Yes, Fading Perry may have been a good idea, he is probably a bit overrated based on how well he has played recently, but Nick Watney was not the person to do it with. Therefore, I have a hard time believing it was "spot on."
Well,
Its easy to say that after the fact. Facts are Watney was the favorite to win this event. Every expert liked him to do well here. His record was 100x better than Perry here. He also is a lot better wind player than Kenny. He hadnt missed a cut in ages, and came in to this event in great form...he had 11 birdies the first 2 rounds which was 8th .. just had a couple doubles as well.
I'm pretty sure the books accounted for everything you just mentioned in the opening line.
I disagree completely, Books look at course and recent form.
The line came out way before Perry talked about his emotional status..
Congrats if you knew Watney was going to miss the cut by 1 shot, not often the favorite of an event misses the cut.
Will do better next week..
Good blog by the way.. i will link you here.
"Congrats if you knew Watney was going to miss the cut by 1 shot, not often the favorite of an event misses the cut."
Far from it. My line of thinking was that based on recent play, these guys are virtually identical. Perry is the better player overall, and I am not willing to concede that "course form," or more accurately one win, as now Watney has finised 42-MC in the past two tries here, is not worth laying -135(when I saw the line).
Ok I understand that. And unlike others who bash plays, you actually did pick Perry over Watney so props. Like I said -130 isnt value on watney over perry, but i got the line at +100 which is value imo.
Thing is Nick hasnt missed a cut since september first of last year, he is a lot better wind player, and i thought it was a good play. Even Perry said when told he was a couple experts pick to win.. 'why, i dont play well here..'.
Nick had 10 birdies, in 2 rounds, and when a player of that caliber does that he will be near the lead usually. I lost, and will move on, you won nice pick.. nice healthy debate.
